About Nicole Vanessa Ortiz

It wasn't til the tender age of 4 that Nicole knew what she wanted to do for the rest of her life! While driving home one day with her parents it just so happened that The Bodyguard Soundtrack cassette was playing in their car and well the rest is pretty obvious! As they drove home listening to "I Will Always Love You" it wasn't til they were halfway through the song that they realized their little girl was sitting right behind them singing along to the great Whitney Houston hitting almost every note. "I remember my mother and father turning around asking me to sing it again but because I was so shy I was too nervous to tell them it was me. So shortly after that my Aunt Doreen put together a family Christmas Karaoke party at her house and it was at that time that I took the mic, sang my heart out and never looked back!"

After discovering Nicole's talent, Michael D'Amore took her under his wing and vocally coached her while her mother dedicated her time to supporting her little girl's dream of becoming a singer, putting her in every performing arts show and class available to help her improve as a performer and singer. As time went on Nicole went on to winning 1st place in competitions like the NJN Hispanic Youth Showcase, opening up for Def Comedy Jam in 2004, Newark Idol 2004, and coming in as a top 30 finalist in American Idol 2005.

Today Nicole Vanessa Ortiz currently stands as the 2013 1st Grand Prize Winner of Empire City Casino Lucky Break Season 1 and the 2012 1st Grand Prize Winner of "Wendy's Next Great Voice" from the Wendy Williams Show! She has also been known as the memorable contestant of BET's reality talent show "Apollo Live" where she delivered a tribute performance of Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" in Season 1 Episode 1! As a result of her emotional rendition she impressed celebrity judge Gladys Knight so much that Gladys Knight personally invited her to go on tour with her! "I broke down when I heard Whitney Houston died because had it not been for God and the gift he shared through her, I wouldn't be so sure about what I wanted to do with my life and the type of artist I wanted to be. So I'm honored to celebrate her legacy every chance I get!"
